BLUES AWARD GALLA

The festival celebrates its 10th edition with a blast of a blues concert.
The audience gets the chance to meet the absolute top end of Danish
blues musicians, all at the same stage on the same evening.

Namely, alle the recipients of the festival’s annual award, ‘’Danish
Blues Musician Of The Year’’, from 2002 up till now.

The event also hosts a special ceremony, presenting the recipient of
the 2010 award.

The stars of the evening will perform in the same order, in which they
received their award: Troels Jensen - in 2002,
Mike Andersen - in 2003,
Thorbjørn Risager og Kenn Lending - borh in 2005,
Paul Banks - in 2006,
Peter Nande - in 2007,
Tim Lothar - in 2008
and Nisse Thorbjørn - in 2009.

Peter Thorup got the award in 2004, but, unfortunately, as he is no longer
with us, we’ll have to make do with a loving thought.

In the cours of the event some of the recipients will appear team up in new
and unusual constellations, competently backed by the house band og the
evening, consisting of Emil Balsgaard, keys., Soren Boejgaard, bass, and
Martin Seidelin, drums.

They will also provide the backing, when the evening is rounded off with
everybody on stage in a all-together-now tribute to The Blues.

The evenings Master of Concerts.will be Mik Schack, who will keep the fun
in check during this smoking, Danish Super Session.

The Rock and blues legend Nalle is up to date with a new album,
’Back To The Roots’’. He’s returning as far back as possible to his roots,
and the result shows, how simple and authentic blues, rock and folk can
actually sound. Apart from sounding good, the songs are supposed to
be meaningful. ‘’It’s important, when I sing a song, that I can relate to it
and feel it. Otherwise it’s impossible to put my soul into it.’’
The Pilegaard audience can look forward to an enthusiastic, well-playing
quartet and a string of highly competent interpretations of well selected songs.
All unnecessary elements are removed, only the genuine remains. And, of course, there will be time for a couple of Nalle's old hits…

Troels Jensen, the Danish Blues scene’s’’Grand Old Man’’, appears
in front of his flagship, The Healers’’, his ‘’almost big band’’, expanded
with with horns and backing vocals. As the title of the band's outstanding
CD says, ‘’Look this way’’
Troels will enter the stage at Mojo coming directly from the Blues Award
Galla in Amager Bio - so folks, look this way !
