With her sensitive, silky-rich voice and dynamic performance she skillfully takes

She started her professional career with her dad, in 1991 in Oakland, CA., and since
then she has performed on her own and appeared at great shows with Etta James,
John Hammond, Taj Mahal, Charles Brown and others.
Last year she releases her forth CD, ”Keeping it Real”, which, like it's predecessor,
the live CD “Colors Of The Blues”, was recorded in South America.

The festival is looking forward to introduce this eminent singer-songwriter, and a
younger generation of the Hooker family, in Denmark for the first time.

Tony Vega Band [USA]
Mojo Oct. 1 7:30 - doors 6 pm Adm. 100 DKR

Tony Vega is a fantastic guitarist and singer, who since 1997 has marked himself as one of the
hottest Texas blues acts. With great personality he blends traditional Texas blues with his own
songwriting, performed with relentless guitar play supplemented with one of the most unique
voices out of Texas in years.
He has achieved an impressing line of acknowledgments, but the biggest award was probably,
when Mr. ZZ himself, Billy Gibbons, stated that: “Tony Vega is a monster...”

NEW ORLEANS - DOING THE FUNKY THING!

Walter Wolfman Washington & The Roadmasters [USA]
Huset i Magstraede Oct. 1 8 pm Adm. 150 DKR NB! Ticket reservation at e-mail: info@copenhagenbluesfestival.dk

Arr. by Copenhagen Blues Festival

Straight from “the melting pot of New Orleans” comes 'The Wolf'.
Walter “Wolfman” Washington, like no one else, masters the blend of equal parts
of street funk, soul, gospel and deep blues into his delicate 'N'Awlin Special style'.
special New Orleans

Wolfman's music is pulsating with joy and good spirits, framed by funky guitar
riffs and a skin-tight ensemble. He is a New Orleans guy to the bone and one
of the city's best and most active concert names.

He is born in in the city in 1943, and already as a kid he joined his mothers
gospel choir, and before his 20th year he was on tour with Lee Dorsay, who had
big hits in the 50's with “Ride Your Pony” and “Working in a Coalmine”.
Later on he played with two of the best New Orleans singers ever, Irma Thomas
and Johnny Adams, but has now been his own master for more than 25 years.

A show with Walter “Wolfman” Washington & the Roadmasters is like looking in
a dictionary of the music history of Americas black population, embracing almost
everything from blues, R'n'B, soul, funk, jazz and all that's in between.
He is super groovy on a live stage with his charming outrovert showmanship, and
a higgly versatile repertoire, which can also be heard on his latest CD, “Doin’ The
Funky Thing”. One of the players on the album is another New Orleans great, Dr. John,
who comments:
"Since I first heard The Wolf, I thought that he was one of the hippest guitar
players and singers! He understood how to comp behind other singers, whether
it was Johnny Adams, Lee Dorsey or Irma Thomas.
I think “Doin’ The Funky Thing” is crucialchronic FUNK at it's best!".

It's exactly 20 years ago that The Wolf last visited Copenhagen, then as backing
for Buddy Guy, and the festival has tried to get him to town in several years.
Now we finally succeeded - he's here, and it's going to be BIG!

where each musician is allowed to play for full in a special feature-song. Kjeld Lauritsen plays
Hammond with foot-bass and shows the many facets of the organ. Per Gade on guitar masters the
whole specter from raw blues over swinging jazz to rock ballads. Anders Holm completes the trio
with his straight-forward and attentive drumming. As an extra scoop the trio brings two strong

Stue 11 Oct. 1 8:30 - Adm. free

Lending/Bugge started thier duo last year - in the best American blues tradition
- 'the master and his apprentice'.
Their theme is ”The Fruits meet the Roots” - a metaphor for the historic development
of the blues music, which the master and the apprentice represent alone and together.
The duo was started after Kenn’s appearance with Hans Christian’s band ”Live Bleeding

ROCKIN' BLUES TONIGHT!

Walter Trout [USA] & Ole Frimer Trio [DK]
Amager Bio Oct. 1 9 pm - doors 8 pm Adm. 225 DKR Tickets BILLETnet

Walter Trout born in 1951 and and raised in a music-loving home in Ocean City,
New Jersey, Walter Trout felt the calling to music at a young age.
His first instrument was trumpet, playing in the school band, but in the mid-'60s, Trout
switched to electric guitar after hearing an album that changed his whole appreciation
of music. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band featuring Mike Bloomfield cemented Walter’s
musical ambitions towards the blues. In his late teens and early 20s, Trout played in
numerous New Jersey bands, but in 1973, he packed his belongings and drove to
Los Angeles. Here Trout developed into a first rate sideman, playing with Finis Tasby,
Pee Wee Crayton, Lowell Fulsom and Percy Mayfield.
Trout often teamed up with Hammond B3 wizard Deacon Jones, and his 'apprenticeship'
continued with blues greats like John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton and Joe Tex.
From 1981 he played with venerable blues rock band Canned Heat for 3 years.
But when the call came to join the legendary John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Trout jumped
and found himself sharing the spotlight with fellow guitarist Coco Montoya, with whom
he lifted the band to a new level. Trout felt that playing with Mayall was as close to his
childhood dream as he could get.
Walter Trout are definitely in the top league of guitarists in the world - partly because
of his flair for catchy riffs and his varied music style, that speaks to your soul, warms
your heart and has your foot tapping.
The audience at Amager Bio knows thist, and it’s a great pleasure to have Mr. Trout
play at the jubilee festival.

A legend in Danish Rock music, a guitar equilibrist, and a fantastic songwriter.
Peter Brander has been and still is the indispensable sound creator to a number
of Danish rock and pop icons, both as a producer in the studio and as a live sound
engineer. Occasionally he finds time to fill his old role as the frontman, guitarist
and singer of his own band. Now, with his band together again, he has recorded
an uncompromising rocking CD, ”No Compromises”.
Craftsmanship, playfulness and rockin’ riffs goes hand in hand with well composed
songs, a great sound, and baggy seats in the jeans.
As an extra bonus, the CD even includes a blues-CD with the band's favourites from
the blues archive and old set-lists, plus a couple of new, homegrown blues-rock tunes,
which will raise the ceiling at Krudttoenden this Friday.

The Delta Connection was assembled in 2006, after H.P. for several years had played as a duo or
quartet with Troels Jensen, Hugo Rasmussen and Jarno Varsted. H.P. is one of the country’s best
and most loyal supporters of the acoustic roots and blues tradition, which he plays with a characteristic
finger-pickin’ technique. Since the mid-80’ies he’s played solo all over the country, and travelled in
many parts of Europe and USA, where he has played with outstanding people like Cedric Burnside,
John Mooney and Kenny Brown, who in 2007 visited Copenhagen and played several festival jobs,
mongst others with H.P. and with The Healers. Particularly R.L. Burnside and his Hill Country blues
has left a deep impression on H.P, which can be heard in both his solo albums and the authentic
music style of his Delta trio, visiting Café Blaagaards Apotek this evening.

Dale Smith Blues Band
Mojo Oct. 1 11 pm - Adm. 80 DKR

Shortly after arriving in Denmark (from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), Dale
joined the jazz-rock band Blue Sun as their new singer. The band became
one of the most popular Danish fusion bands throughout the seventies.
The Dale Smith Blues Band has now played Danish and foreign clubs and
venues for nearly 20 years, with Dale as the energetic, charming center of
the band's music and performance.

Even though the music is strongly rooted in traditional blues, the band often
detours to rock and other groovy stuff, delivered with a surplus of improvisation,
showman-ship and pure joy of playing.
