Jes Holtsoe & Morten Wittrock [DK]
Roedovre Centrum Sept. 29 4.30 PM - Adm. free

Jes Holtsoe - from the Olsen Banden movies - became famous once again
after presenting his blues songs on the DR TV show “Talent 2009”.
Last year he released his first CD with his partner in music, Morten Wittrock.
They got plenty of airplay and a busy gig-schedule, and now, just one year
later with their second release on it's way, they are ready to entertain and
excite the crowds with new stuff, as always, delivered with soul and heart.

Janice Harrington & Kenn Lending Blues Band [US/DK]
Roedovre Centrum Sept. 29 5.30 PM - Adm. free

OG:

Husets Café Sept. 29 8 PM - Adm. 150 kr. Forsalg på Billetto

Arr. by Copenhagen Blues Festival

A long friendship between Janice Harrington and Kenn Lending has
resulted in many years of musical cooperation and club and festival
performances on the international blues scene.
They have performed with Rockin' Dopsie, Buddy Guy, Champion
Jack Dupreee, Luther Allison, and have even warmed up for B.B.
King himself in Copenhagen.

In 1988, Janice and Kenn recorded the album “Double Dynamite”
that was highly praised by the critics, and was re-issued in 2004
under the title “Magic”. That very year they also delivered a great
show at the Copenhagen Blues Festival.

Janice started her career as a jazz and blues singer in 1969, playing
concerts in the Far East, where she performed for the US troops
in Vietnam. Since then she has performed with e.g. Big Jay McNeely,
Nat Adderley, Papa Bue and various big bands including the Danish
Radio Big Band.

With elements - in both voice and looks - of Dinah Washington's
erotic impudence and Etta James' deep mausical authenticity,
Janice Harrington confronts her audience with a superb personal
expression as the most lovely and truly charming blues bomb.

With the united efforts of Janice Harington and Kenn Lending and
his superb guitar and funky blues band, you can look forward to a
“Magic Double Dynamite Blues Show" this evening at Huset.

Remember, that you can see and hear Janice perform her more
jazzy repertoire with Kjeld Lauritsen and his Hammond trio at
La Fontaine Friday night.

Janice Harrington - vocal/ Kenn Lending - voc/gui / Michael Sunding - keyb. / Dan Rasmussen - bass / Esben Duus: drums

Louisiana Red & Paul Lamb [US/UK]
Mojo Sept. 29 7 PM - doors 6 PM - Adm. 150 kr. Forsalg: Mojo

Legendary Louisiana Red is one of the very last Blues men, who was there, when it all started.
He was born in Alabama in 1932 and has lived and played the blues ever since. His unique
musical expression is inspired by the classic Chicago style, and over the years he has had the
chance to perform with practically all of the great, original blues artists - a few of them still around,
but most of them gone ages ago.

For this very special festival event, he joines forces with one of Britain's greatest harmonica players,
Paul Lamb, who, for more than 30 years has fronted his own band, Paul Lamb & the King Snakes.
Lamb has won almost every single blues award, there is to win: “best blues band”, “best album” “
best harmonica player”, - and the list goes on and on. With just their voices, a guitar and a blues harmonica, these distinguished performers will create a cross-atlantic blues session to be remembered.

H.P. Lange and Delta Connection [DK]
Music House - Brønshøj Sept. 29 8 PM - Adm. 60 kr. Forsalg på Pilegården

H.P. Lange is one of the country’s best and most authentic performers of the acoustic roots- and blues tradition, which he plays with a characteristic finger-pickin’ technique.
He formed his Delta Connection in 2006, after having played duo with Troels Jensen for several years, often enhanced with Hugo Rasmussen and Jarno Varsted.

Since the mid-80’es he’s played solo all over the country, and travelled many parts of Europe and the US, playing with outstanding blues artists like Cedric Burnside,
John Mooney and Kenny Brown, who visited Copenhagen in 2007, playing several festival concerts with H.P., Paul Banks and Troels Jensen and the Healers.

Particularly R.L. Burnside and his Hill Country blues has had a huge influence on H.P.s music, which is clarly heard on his albums as well as his live performances.

Jesper Ejrup Band & Downtown Blues Band [DK]
Råhuset Sept. 29 9 PM - Adm. 50 kr.

The Raahus at Vesterbro takes the first steps to introduce a festival stage for the
up-and-coming bands from the the blues undergrowth.
This first time around the festival and Raahuset present three nights with two bands
every night - and we hope, that the project will live and grow.

Jesper Ejrup Band plays songs about the ups and downs of life, drinking, sorrow and most of all
unhappy love, all served without compromise, but honestly and as good as it gets.
The band serves strong, energetic songs in a catchy Rhythm'n'Blues universe
- and with a catchy west-coast guitar.

With carisma and energy Down Town Blues Band delivers songs about the ups and downs of life
- drinking, sorrow and unhappy love, but without too much dark melancholy.
But, there is also room for the more optimistic songs, that are presented in an explosive,
broad and catchy sound-universe, inspired by various genres as motown, blues and funk.

Risager & Balsgaard [DK]
Soehesten Sept. 29 9 PM - Adm. free

Risager and Balsgaard have played together for 15 years in their dynamic
and interactive duo, based on Risager's powerful vocal and guitar, and
Balsgaard's rolling boogie piano.
The style is pulverizing New Orleans boogie blues, their own compositions
as well as interpretations of old classics.

They also share the stage in the successful 7 piece Thorbjorn Risager Band,
continuing the band's international conquests.

The full band plays a festival gig at Mojo on Friday night, but in between band
gigs and tours it's still possible to hear the music in a smaller, intimate duo set-up.

Jacob Fischer Trio [DK]
Bartof Café d. 290/9 9 PM - Adm. 80 kr.

”Blues” is the title of Jacob Fischers new CD recorded live at La Fontaine in May 2010.
The trio explores all the different musical shades of blue - from corrosive blue distorted
slide blues, light blue jazz-waltz, to lazy summer blue bossa nova and hot red-blistered
blue bebop.
Performed by three of the country's finest jazz musicians, who really don't see any reason
to hide the fact, that they love playing their music.
Jazz guitar wizard Jacob Fischer, versatile in styles and technical skills as few,
organ virtuoso Martin Schack, sweaty dirty Hammond organ, Jimmi Smith style,
and Caspar Mikkelsen, a powerhouse of energetic, funky and creative drums.
Formidable jazz-blues.
