Dave Herrero & the Hero Brothers Band [US]
Roedovre Centrum Sept. 26 5 PM - Adm. free

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, later Austin, Texas, but now based in Chicago,
Dave Herrero plays a smokin' hot "Texas comes to Chicago" blues.
Dave’s guitar sound is sharp and with lots of reverb, and a review of his 2008 CD,
"Austin to Chicago" said: "A vintage Texas blues sound with a modern twist".
He belongs to the new generation of blues guitar players, who're breathing new life
into the Blues, but with a full understanding of and respect for the traditions and the
many different styles. He is inspired by other guitar players like Dave Specter,
Ronnie Earl, Albert King and Jimmie Vaughan, but his special Texas-Chicago style
definitely makes him his own man.

Read more further down on this page - and don’t miss his gigs at this Copenhagen Blues Festival.

Double concert w. Jes Holtsoe & Morten Wittrock Band and Dave Herrero & the Hero Brothers Band [US]

After the award ceremony the first of the evening's two bands takes the stage at about 8:30 PM

Jes Holtsoe/Morten Wittrock Band
Jes Holtsoe won his fame in the Olsen Banden movies, and became famous once again
many years later when he appeared in the TV show “Talent 2009”, now as a skillful blues singer.
In 2010 he released his first CD with his music partner, Morten Wittrock and his band. The CD got plenty of airplay,
and after some busy years with full gig-schedule, they are out with their second release, "Big Easy". The CD and
the live shows takes you on a musical journey through life's blind alleys of loss and powerlessness in search of the love,
that must be out there...somewhere. It's solid blues, R'n'B and soul songs, music and lyrics written by Morten Wittrock
and Ray Weaver, and performed by Jes with pain, presence and charm. Big Easy is a rare example of gritty, honest and
authentic blues at its very best. Big Easy was produced by Wittrock and mixed in Nashville, Tennessee by Wittrock and the
Grammy Award winning American producer, Matt Andrews (Sheryl Crow, Delbert McClinton, John Mellencamp,
Garth Brooks, Kenny Rogers, and the sSoundtrack for the movie "O' Brother, Where Art Thou").
The close Danish-American collaboration has resulted in an album with great sound and a tight, swinging band.
We are looking forward to presenting Jes and his"Big Easy" songs at Huset on this opening night of the blues festival.

Dave Herrero & the Hero Brothers Band
Dave Herrero and his band closes this first festival night with a smokin' hot set of "Texas comes to Chicago".
Dave Herrero belongs to the new generation of blues guitar players, who're working hard to keep the blues tradition alive,
but with his own modern approach. Dave Herrero began playing music professionally in his teens in Jacksonville, FL.
Initially, he was influenced by Muddy Waters, Albert King and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, which, with the help of his friend
Seth Walker, prompted his move to Austin, TX, but only after he took his degree in psychology.
Dave cut his teeth in Austin, playing with the who's who of the Austin blues community, Marcia Ball, Charlie Sexton, Seth
Walker, Gary Clark Jr, Matt Powell, The Keller Bros., Nick Curran, and Lazy Lester.
In 2004, Dave moved to Chicago to team up with his brother to form TrackForce Productions, L.L.C.
Since then, Dave and his brother, known to the Chicago community as 'The Hero Brothers', have produced music for
Harpo Productions, Oprah, Telepictures, MTV and more. Dave has monthly gigs at Buddy Guy’s Legends, has played
at the Chicago Blues Festival, and is regularly on tours in US and Europe. He is inspired by other guitar players as
Dave Specter, Ronnie Earl, Albert King and Jimmie Vaughan.
Dave’s guitar sound is sharp and with a lot of reverb, and a review of his 2008 CD, "Austin to Chicago" said:
"A vintage Texas blues sound with a modern twist". Don’t miss his gigs at Copenhagen Blues Festival.

The Nighthawks w. special guest Billy Cross [US]
Music House Bronshoj Sept. 26 8 PM - Adm. 150 kr. Tickets: BilletAgenten

Over four decades The Nighthawks have earned a reputation as one of the best and hardest-working bands around.
Their live shows are legendary. Founded in the Washington, D.C. area in 1972, the ‘Hawks’ were a roots band before
anyone had come up with the term. Their mix of blues, rock, rockabilly, soul and swing appeals to a wide audience,
built over years of touring throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.
In the dark ages of the early ‘70s, when there were only a handful of blues societies and festivals, The Nighthawks
set out to bring blues to a wider audience. In their birthplace of Washington, D.C., they invaded top-40 dance halls and
intimate folk-rock clubs, playing high-energy, danceable versions of Elmore James and Muddy Waters that won them
legions of fans and introduced a new generation to live blues. After establishing themselves as the local openers for
luminaries such as Muddy, James Cotton and B.B. King, the band launched a series called “Blue Monday” at one of
D.C.’s biggest dance clubs, the Bayou. They booked and backed up the likes of Otis Rush, Fenton Robinson, J.B. Hutto,
Louis Myers, Carey Bell, and Jimmy Rogers with Kim Wilson and Big Walter Horton with Johnny Nicholas.
And they introduced Washingtonians to Billy Price, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Powerhouse .
and Roomful of Blues Thus began a musical mystery tour that is closing in on 40 years, spanning 49 states and a dozen
countries. In between, The Nighthawks have released more than 20 recordings, including 2009’s award-winning
“American Landscape”. Their February 2010 release, “Last Train to Bluesville,” recorded live at Sirius XM studios,
is an acoustic blues romp that has been nominated for a 2011 Blues Music Award.

Everyone - at least in Denmark - knows Billy Cross as an excellent producer, guitar player and band leader.
His Danish career began in the late seventies with his collaboration with Delta Blues Band, later to become Delta-Cross Band.
Today's activities embrace The trio from Hell, Everybodys Talking, Billy Cros & the Rebels and hisduo work with Aske Jacoby.

On this rare occasion he meets up with the Nighthawks, as far as the rumour goes, only for the second time, to celebrate and
share their common interest and love for the roots and blues music, that has brought them to where and who they are today. Rain or snow - you gotta go !

Mark Wenner - vocal/harp / Paul Bell - guitar / Johnny Castle - bass / Mark Stutso - drums / special guest - Billy Cross - guitar/vocal
