After the award ceremony the first of the evening's two bands takes the stage at about 8:30 PM
Jes Holtsoe/Morten Wittrock Band
Jes Holtsoe won his fame in the Olsen Banden movies, and became famous once again
many years later when he appeared in the TV show “Talent 2009”, now as a skillful blues singer.
In 2010 he released his first CD with his music partner, Morten Wittrock and his band. The CD got plenty of airplay,
and after some busy years with full gig-schedule, they are out with their second release, "Big Easy".
The CD and
the live shows takes you on a musical journey through life's blind alleys of loss and powerlessness in search of the love,
that must be out there...somewhere. It's solid blues, R'n'B and soul songs, music and lyrics written by Morten Wittrock
and Ray Weaver, and performed by Jes with pain, presence and charm. Big Easy is a rare example of gritty, honest and
authentic blues at its very best. Big Easy was produced by Wittrock and mixed in Nashville, Tennessee by Wittrock and the
Grammy Award winning American producer, Matt Andrews (Sheryl Crow, Delbert McClinton, John Mellencamp,
Garth Brooks, Kenny Rogers, and the sSoundtrack for the movie "O' Brother, Where Art Thou").
The close Danish-American collaboration has resulted in an album with great sound and a tight, swinging band.
We are looking forward to presenting Jes and his"Big Easy" songs at Huset on this opening night of the blues festival.

Dave Herrero & the Hero Brothers Band
Dave Herrero and his band closes this first festival night with a smokin' hot set of "Texas comes to Chicago".
Dave Herrero belongs to the new generation of blues guitar players, who're working hard to keep the blues tradition alive,
but with his own modern approach. Dave Herrero began playing music professionally in his teens in Jacksonville, FL.
Initially, he was influenced by Muddy Waters, Albert King and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, which, with the help of his friend
Seth Walker, prompted his move to Austin, TX, but only after he took his degree in psychology.
Dave cut his teeth in Austin, playing with the who's who of the Austin blues community, Marcia Ball, Charlie Sexton, Seth
Walker, Gary Clark Jr, Matt Powell, The Keller Bros., Nick Curran, and Lazy Lester.
In 2004, Dave moved to Chicago to team up with his brother to form TrackForce Productions, L.L.C.
Since then, Dave and his brother, known to the Chicago community as 'The Hero Brothers', have produced music for
Harpo Productions, Oprah, Telepictures, MTV and more. Dave has monthly gigs at Buddy Guy’s Legends, has played
at the Chicago Blues Festival, and is regularly on tours in US and Europe. He is inspired by other guitar players as
Dave Specter, Ronnie Earl, Albert King and Jimmie Vaughan.
Dave’s guitar sound is sharp and with a lot of reverb, and a review of his 2008 CD, "Austin to Chicago" said:
"A vintage Texas blues sound with a modern twist". Don’t miss his gigs at Copenhagen Blues Festival.
