Mighty Mo Rodgers [US]
Roedovre Centrum Sept. 27 5.30 PM - Adm. free

AND:

Husets Café Sept. 27 8 PM - Adm. 120 DKR. Tickets: Billetto

Arr. by Copenhagen Blues Festival

Mighty Mo Rodgers is a remarkably original singer/songwriter who's shaped his life experiences
into a terrifically eclectic and immensely deep vision on his blue thumb debut, Blues is My Wailin'
Wall. Released in 1999 it is one of 5 great records he has recorded. Mighty Mo has a soulful voice.
Although his music is grounded in blues, soul, funk and R&B is also a part of the recipe.
Mighty Mo was born in Indiana where his father owned a club that featured blues performers.
When he wasn't studying classical piano he was checking out the blues artists that played there.
Growing up, Mighty Mo was deeply affected by the mid-'60s soul music from the Memphis-based
Stax label. Later on he moved to L.A., and gave music his full-time attention.
There he played gigs and recorded with many blues and R&B legends, such as T-bone Walker,
Albert Collins, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Jimmy Reed, and many others.
Mighty Mo has not limited himself to performing. In 1973 he produced the album Sonny and Brownie
A&M records for Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. After growing tired of tedious session work, he
continued to write songs and became a house songwriter for Motown and Chappel Publishing.
Mighty Mo Rodgers also continued to produce sessions for other artists and decided to go back to
school where he received a degree in philosophy.
Since 1999 he has worked full time playing his own music, and he is in great shape, as you can hear
on his latest recording "Cadillac Jack", a musical journey back to Route 66 and the fifties, when Blues
became Rock n´ Roll.

Daniel Norgren [S]
Mojo Sept. 27 7 PM - doors 6 PM - Adm. 120 DKR. Tickets: Mojo

Daniel Norgren is one of the strongest acts, the Swedish blues scene has to offer.
He is a unique character on the alternative music scene with his raw one-man garage band.
His music is rough and soulful with ways in the expression that could be traced back to the
pre-war blues and gospel, early garage rock and jazz. He jumps ruthlessly between genres
and moods but will not call himself a Bluesman, rather more of a musical Swiss army knife.
In his early teenage years, Daniel got his first guitar from his father that he’d once found in
a recycling container. It was old and crooked with a big crack running across the back, but
he learned the basics, and kept on developing a rough and hammering playing style that
takes your mind back to Son House’s drunken guitar.
Daniel Norgren’s first album was "Kerosene Dreams" from 2007, followed by "Outskirt" in 2008,
recorded with musicians from bands like Kamchatka, Rambling Nicholas Heron and Filipsongs.
The most recent CD is "Horrifying Deatheating Bloodspider" from 2010.
On this special occasion at Mojo Daniel Norgren brings his trio.

David Lindley [US]
Amager Bio Sept. 27 8 PM - Adm. 275 DKR. Tickets: Billetnet

David Perry Lindley, also known as "De Paris Letante", or simply as "Mr. Dave", was born March 21, 1944, in San Marino
California. The great, legendary multi-instrumentalist David Lindley is finally back in Copenhagen to perform a much
anticipated festival concert at Amager Bio.
It’s very difficult to put David Lindley in a certain bin because his electro-acoustic performance effortlessly combines
American folk, blues, and bluegrass traditions with elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy, and Turkish
musical sources. The essence of it all lead us into Lindley’s definition of “world music” with deep roots in the American
folk and blues tradition and adds some humor too.
Lindley incorporates an incredible array of stringed instruments: Kona and Weissenborn Hawaiian lap steel guitar,
Turkish saz and chumbus, Middle Eastern oud, Irish bouzouki, 12-string guitar and maybe just a good old six string.
Lindley has an large collection of rare, and to the majority of Westerners, unusual looking and sounding instruments.
Lindley worked in 1979 with his old friend Ry Cooder on 'Bop Till you Drop' and 'The Long Riders' sound track.
“Mercury Blues” from 1981 became a hit song, when Lindley created his own remarkable Band El Rayo-X, which
integrated American roots music and world beat with a heavy reggae influence.

Lindley has been one of Hollywood's most in demand session musicians, lending his skills to the recorded works of
Jackson Brown, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, Crosby and Nash, Bruce Springsteen Leonard Cohen.
A CD released in 2010 (Love Is Strange - En Vivo Con Tino) from the reunion tour in Spain in 1996 with Jackson Brown
and flamingo percussionist Tino di Geraldo, gave him a 2011 GRAMMY Nominee for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
In 1990 a chance meeting of Lindley and Jordanian percussionist Hani Naser led to an instant decision:
"we should take this on the road", and so, David and Hani toured the world for the following six years.
After that Lindley recorded and toured with drummer Wally Ingram from 2000 - 2008. The duo played in Copenhagen
at Amager Bio in 2000.
You can expect a musical journey of freedom and soul and crossing
boundaries, and the unexpected connectedness of everything.
Don’t miss this extremely rare opportunity to see David Lindley perform solo at the Copenhagen Blues Festival.

The Blues Overdrive [DK]
The Brass Monkey Sept. 27 9 PM - Adm. 60 DKR

The Blues Overdrive delivers a contemporary version of the blues, with a wider appeal
than is usually the case in the genre. The band explores, challenges, innovates and
interpretes in their own way, but certainly knows and respects the roots and traditions
of the Blues.
The band released an EP in 2010, and now they have a full CD out.The frontman,
Martin Olsen, writes most of the material, in all kinds of blues styles, from swamp to
boogie, even crossing into more mainstream styles. Also, the album includes a tribute
to the Danish blues legend Peter Thorup, and a never before released J. J. Cale song.
The band has been called
“A new shootin star on the bluesscene” and
“One of Denmarks most promising bluesbands”.
They are well underway to earn the praise.
