Eddie C. Campbell [US]
Roedovre Centrum Sept. 28 5.30 PM - Adm. free

AND:

Husets Café Sept. 28 8 PM - Adm. 150 DKR. Tickets: Billetto

Arr. af Copenhagen Blues Festival

Eddie C. Campbell was born in Mississippi in 1939, but moved to Chicago with his family as a young boy, growing up
on Chicago’s tough South Side. His mother bought him his first guitar at the age of 8 and took him to the 1125 Club
on Madison Street, where he met the legendary Muddy Waters. Waters told him he could sit in if he learned to play.
He learned "Still A Fool", and Muddy allowed him to sit in with the band - at the age of twelve!!
A high level start, indeed, and he’s stayed on top ever since, playing and being friends with, people like Luther Allison
and Magic Sam. He also backed up or sat in with Lowell Fulson, Percy Mayfield, Tyrone Davis and Little Johnny Taylor,
Howlin' Wolf, Otis Rush, Little Walter, Mighty Joe Young, Oscar Coleman and of course Muddy Waters.
Later, in the 60’s and 70’s, he was band leader for Jimmy Reed, until his death in 1976, and played with Koko Taylor
and Willie Dixon's Chicago Blues All-Stars.

In 1977 he went solo and released his highly acclaimed debut album "King of the Jungle".
In the mid eighties he moved to Europe, living in England, Netherlands and Germany for a number of years.
He released “Let's Pick It!” with a Dutch band before returning to Chicago in 1992.
Back home again he he has released several albums, among them “That's When I Know”, “Hopes and Dreams”,
“Gonna Be Alright”, and the most recent album from 2009, “Tear This World Up”.
The King of West Side Funk Blues is still in his prime, mesmerizing audiences with his deep blues grooves and
distinctive, reverb soaked guitar sound on his trademark purple Fender Jazzmaster, along with his witty and original songwriting, and a stunning, powerful stage charisma.

9 AM - Walter Trout [US]

Born in 1951 and raised in a music-loving home in Ocean City, New Jersey, Walter Trout felt the calling to music at a very young age.
His first instrument was trumpet, playing in the school band, but in the mid-'60s, Trout switched to electric guitar after hearing an album
that completely changed his appreciation of music. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band featuring Mike Bloomfield.
This turned Walter’s musical ambitions towards the blues and the electric guitar, and in his late teens and early 20s, Trout played
in numerous New Jersey bands, competing at the time for rank with the band “Steel Mill”, featuring a very young Bruce Springsteen.
In 1973, he packed up his belongings and drove to Los Angeles. In LA, Trout developed into an ace sideman playing with Finis Tasby,
Pee Wee Crayton, Lowell Fulsom, and Percy Mayfield. Trout often teamed with Hammond B3 wizard Deacon Jones and his
apprenticeship continued in the bands of John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thorton and Joe Tex.

By 1981, Trout’s reputation led to the invitation to join venerable blues rock band Canned Heat, where he remained through 1984.
When the call came to join the legendary John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Trout jumped and found himself sharing the spotlight
with fellow guitarist Coco Montoya. Trout and Montoya lifted the band to a new level, as Mayall’s Bluesbreakers enjoyed
unprecedented album sales and high profile tours in the US and abroad. Trout felt that playing with Mayall was as close to his
childhood dream as he could get.
Truly tantalizing sounds on par with those infamous Eric Clapton licks and Stevie Ray Vaughan riffs, are testament to Trout’s talent.
His music speaks to your soul, warms your heart and has your foot tapping.
Trout brings the blues to life and invigorates rock in a manner all too rare these days.

Thorbjørn Risager Band [DK]
Kvarterhuset Sept. 28 8 PM - Adm. 80 DKR. Tickets: Enkelbillet.dk

With a series of albums and numerous international club and festival concerts under
his belt, and as the recipient of the blues festival's award in 2005, Thorbjorn Risager
has established a well deserved reputation as being one of the most successful acts
in Danish blues in recent years.
His exceptional voice has made several US critics compare him with Ray Charles
and other vocal giants like Delbert McClinton, Bob Seger and David Clayton-Thomas.

6 CDs in 7 years, and lately 90 gigs a year in a dozen countries, speak volumes
of the international success, Risager and his band has achieved.
The band writes and plays in a highly original style with elements from many music styles,
blending blues, rock, soul, jazz, funk, New Orleans, and not least, Rhythm'n'Blues.
The two most recent albums, "Track Record" and "Dust & Scratches" were both produced
by Lars Skjaerbak, who guided the band in direction of a more direct and distinct sound,
which seems to become the band very well in their efforts to create a musical cross-over
effect, opening the doors to a wider range of blues, rock and jazz venues, primarely in Europe,
but this Summer also in Canada.
Over the years this great band has been a faithful and treasured guest at the feastival.
This time around at Kvartérhuset.
