The Blues Overdrive are among the pioneers working for an updated version of the blues genre,
with a broader vision than what is usually regarded as the blues. In coherence with their aim
for renewal, there is still a lot of respect for the blues tradition.
The band published an EP in 2010, and are now out with a full album. The front-man Martin Olsen,
writes most of the material, ranging from sluggish swamp, over hot shuffle groves to dirty boogie.
The album makes room for a tribute to the danish blues-legend Peter Thorup, and an unpublished
song by cult-icon J.J. Cale.
Review remarks such as: 'A new meteor on the blues-scene' and 'one of the countries most
promising blues bands'. Listen to them!

The piano and guitar were previously a very popular ensemble in American blues music -
consider Leroy Carr and Scrapper Blackwell, or what about Otis Spann in the company
of Robert Lockwood Jr., if you recall the earlier blues, they are sure to ring a bell.
Here at home we had Champion Jack Dupree and Kenn Lending.
Now, the two internationally renown Danish blues ambassadors. Hans Knudsen and
Ronni Boysen,
have taken hold of the tradition and give the audience a key and string delight, both
playful and profound. This is blues with with a kick.

Nobody knows where it starts or where it ends, when two of Denmark’s most notable guitarist, who,
with open mind, mutual respect and an unwavering joy for playing, progress through musical journeys
of the unknown. Although one thing is certain, there will be no holding bars – this is blues and the guitar
par-excelance.
Billy Cross has played in numerous constellations, a. o. with: Bob Dylan, Meat Loaf, Sha Na Na and
Topaz, and locally, with bands such as C.V.Jørgensen, Björn Afzelius, Delta Cross Band, TV-2,
Cross-Schack-Osterman and Everybody's Talking.
Aske Jacoby has played with with just about everybody on the Danish music/blues scene: ex. News,
C.V.Jørgensen, Sanne Salemonsen, Thomas Helmig, Kasper Winding, Danseorkesteret, Afenginn.

Troels Jensen is widely recognized by his peers as 'The Grand Ol' Man of Danish Blues.
He has paid his dues since the early sixties, and has played in numerous bands over the
years, always leaving a lasting impression on audiences and musical partners alike.
This evening he's in the forefront of his top-tuned, extremely competent and exciting
nine piece outfit, The Healers, swinging like hell. A couple of years ago they issued
a CD called "Look This Way" - so, please do that !
