John Primer & Copenhagen Slim Band [US/DK]
HUSET-KBH Sept. 25 8 pm - Adm. 150 kr. - Tickets: Billetto

John Primer is the soul of classic Chicago Blues - “The Real Deal”.
He was born in Mississippi in 1945, but 18 years old he moved to Chicago.
Primer has played blues guitar since the early sixties, and he quickly became a sought
after sideman on both rhythm, lead and slide guitar. In 1979 he was invited by Willie Dixon
himself to play in his band, Chicago All-Stars, touring all over the US, Mexico and Europe.
From 1980 he played lead guitar with Muddy Waters until Muddy's untimely death in 1983.
That very same year Muddy Waters plyed in Copenhagen, with Primer on guitar, so 28 years
has passed since his last visit here.
After Muddy's death Primer played the guitar for 14 years with Magic Slim & Teardrops.
The inspiration from his time with Muddy and Magic is obvious, and is clearly heard on the 10
albums that he has published since he became his own master.

He is constantly touring the world, and today he stands out as one of the greatest exponents of
real Chicago Blues. He masters the traditional Chicago phrasing as no one else, as a guitarist
as well as a “story-teller”. With his big voice, his ultra tight rhythm guitar and sparkling lead and
slide guitar, he is at the top of his game, and all around the world he is considered a true driving
force of the Chicago Blues.

When John Primer visited Copenhagen Blues Festival in 2011, he was backed by Nisse Thorbjorn,
aka Copenhagen Slim, and his band, which is also the case this year.
Nisse actually got to play with John Primer at the Kingston Mines blues club on Halsted Street in
Chicago. Nisse won the award “Danish Blues Artist" in 2009, after the release of his debut album,
“CPH SLIM”, and has since then made a name for himself on the Danish and Swedish blues ccene.
Look forward to this exciting meeting between two genuine blues-performers of two generations,
Chicago’s living blues legend John Primer, and award winning Danish musician Copenhagen Slim.
Iit's a powerfull combination.

The opening act this evening is the duo 2x335 with Torben Ronholt and Peter Klitgaard.
They are well known for their long time together in the 'Barflies', but also for their 40 years in
blues bands like Smalltown Blues Band, Delta Blues Band, Blues Train and Krolle Eriks Blues
Band among others. Ronholts voice and slide guitar is in a class of it's own, and Klitgaard plays
an expressive and sophisticated guitar. Need it be delicate and sensitive or exploding and dirty,
it will be so !
The two red Gibson 335 guitars and their respective owners will make sure, that the room and
the crowd is properly warmed up before they hand over the stage to the night's headliner,
John Primer.
